Use of Recycled Materials

We use recycled steel in our coil mattresses; recycled paper in our packaging. We’ve found a way to use scrap memory foam bits to provide support foundations in some of our beds.

We’ve found a way to compress our large mattresses so they fit into convenient wheeled boxes that one person can maneuver around the home. Transportation costs are substantially reduced and the resulting carbon footprint is significantly cut.

		Each of our mattresses are compressed, rolled and packed into these more manageable cartons made of recyclable cardboard. Our goal was to develop a more efficient way to get products from the factory to you. Lesser quality products cannot stand up to the compression process. The result is a world-class mattress that has a smaller carbon footprint than any other mattress. If you buy our mattress in the store or, better yet, order on line, one person can roll it to the bedroom thanks to the wheels and handle on the box. Easy to move around corners and up stairs. 		Each of our mattresses have a numeric rating called the “Keetsa Quotient™”. This is a composite score of how much each product contains a green-factor ingredient: use of recycled material or recyclable materials, use of sustainable materials such as bamboo or unbleached cotton. Some products have higher scores because we try to deliver as much a green-factor as we can while still delivering high levels of comfort. We are constantly seeking to make products with higher and higher Keetsa Quotient scores.

		You probably already know the health benefits of drinking green tea. We love it and that led to our discovering something totally new. Green tea contains an ingredient called “catechin” (also known as EGCG) which, when consumed by humans, produces a very high level of anti-oxidants in the blood. When the extract is added to our memory foam, the ingredient has an odor-controlling property from the first day of purchase and throughout the life of the product. Bacteria that causes odor over time cannot colonize our memory foam products thanks to our all-natural EverGreen™ green tea ingredient. No harsh chemicals or pesticides needed.

		Silver, which is a naturally occurring metal, was used by ancient Egyptians to help naturally preserve food in silver urns. American settlers used silver coins in milk containers to maintain freshness longer. The high-tech industry discovered the use of micro-particles and nano-particles of silver to keep circuit boards free from microorganisms. Today, a leading healthcare company uses silver in bandages for burn victims to minimize bacterial infections. We’ve figured out a way to use micro-particles of silver in our fabrics as a natural anti-bacterial agent. It’s EPA-approved and effective in protecting products from bacterial infestation.
